Ralph Castellano III, of Lodi, was behind the wheel of the 2010 Toyota Tundra that struck Paul Adams, 70, of Wyckoff, while he was trying to cross Godwin Avenue at the intersection with Witte Drive on Friday, Oct. 11 around 7:10 p.m., Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

Adams was taken from the scene to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where he was ultimately pronounced dead. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit was notified and responded.

On Monday, Oct. 21, investigators located the vehicle in question and identified Castellano as the driver of the Toyota involved in the crash, which had fled the scene.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, third-degree endangering an injured victim, and issued related motor vehicle offenses.

The night before, George Arnold was killed at the intersection of Ridge Road and Milton Avenue in Lyndhurst. He was a cook at the popular Route 17 restaurant Steve's Sizzling Steaks.
